How to Ask Alexa Stock Prices

This wikiHow teaches you how to get current stock prices on any Amazon Alexa enabled device, such as the Amazon Echo or the Echo Dot. Alexa can answer questions about the stock price on any New York Stock Exchange or NASDAQ stocks.

Quick Summary
"Alexa, check Amazon stock." Amazon's current stock price.
"Alexa, stock price for Amazon." Amazon's current stock price.
"Alexa, stock price for A-M-Z-N." Amazon's current stock price.
"Alexa, how's the stock market?" Summary of the Dow, NASDAQ, and S&P 500.
Did this summary help you?YesNo
Steps
1
Say "Alexa". Say the wake command to wake Alexa and she will begin listening for your next command.
The default wake command is "Alexa," but if you've changed it to "Echo," "Amazon," or some other command, then use that instead.
2
Ask Alexa the stock price for a specific stock. You can simply say "Stock price for ..."' and the name of any publicly traded stock on the New York Stock Exchange or NASDAQ. Alexa will give you the current stock price and the time of that price (typically within the last 15 minutes) as well as what percent increase or decrease the price is from the previous day's close.
For example, you can say, "Alexa, stock price for Amazon," or "Alexa, check Amazon stock,"' to get the stock price for Amazon.com Inc.
3
Ask Alexa the stock price of a stock's symbol. You can ask the stock price for any stock's symbol (the short unique series of letters) that identify the stock rather than the stock's full name. This may come in handy if Alexa does not recognize the stock name correctly for some reason.
For example, you can say, "Alexa, stock price for A-M-Z-N," which will also give you the stock price for Amazon.com Inc.
4
Ask Alexa how the market is performing. If you simply ask "Alexa, how's the stock market?" you will get a summary of the Dow Jones, NASDAQ and S&P 500 indexes and their relatively recent performance. This can be handy if you want an overall sense of how the economy is doing.

How to Add Sales Tax

When browsing in your favorite department store, the prices listed aren't actually telling you the total cost. Most cities and states charge a sales tax, driving the price of a cool new jacket or a fabulous piece of jewelry past what is listed on the tag. Depending on where you are sales tax may differ, so it's important to be able to quickly and easily figure out how much you'll be charged at checkout. Follow one of these easy methods to figure out your final tab. Method 1 Calculating the Exact Amount of Sales Tax 1 Determine the sales tax rate in your location. You can look it up online or ask a sales associate what it will be. While states usually set a statewide sales tax, some municipalities add their own taxes on top of that. This means that the sales tax rate can vary drastically when moving between different cities or counties. Sales tax is not charged on all items you buy. Check online to see what is, and is not, taxed in your area. [1] 2 Convert the sal...

How to Ask About Application Status Following an Interview

Even if you walk out of an interview feeling like it was a success, you still have to wait for the company to make a decision. Sending a follow-up message is a way to move on with your life. All you need to do is send a simple email or make a short call. Be polite and to the point when asking about your application and you may get more information about where you stand in the application process. Method 1 Calling Your Interviewer 1 Call the interviewer directly if they gave you their number. You should make use of any contact number you were given in the interview. If the interviewer gave you their work number, you can score some points by getting in touch with them directly. If they didn’t give you a number, look up the company’s main number and call it to get in touch with someone.[1] By calling the main number, you may get directed to a boss or supervisor. Higher-level employees may be more straightforward about your application. Avoid looking up personal numbers to call, ...

How to Avoid Dehydration

Dehydration is when your body is losing more fluids than it is taking in. Often heat related, its other names are "heat stress", "heat exhaustion," "heat cramps," and "heat stroke," but it can occur even in cold temperatures. It's a common problem, especially among young children, people exercising, and sick people. Thankfully, it's usually fairly preventable. Steps 1 Prevent it by drinking lots of water daily! By the time you feel thirsty, you are already dehydrated. Thirst can signal a water loss of 1% of body weight. Light-headedness can occur with as little as a 2% water loss. Water contains no calories and is great for your health in other ways. The amount of water you need is dependent on body weight. Hospitals use a formula to compute water intake needs, because even a patient in a coma needs water! For an adult weighing 150#, 8 oz. of water every hour for 8-10 hours is about right, in a temperate climate, with a sedentary l...

How to Ace a Case Interview

Steps 1 Know what's important. Don't go into the interview with the assumption that your mathematics skills are the most important thing. While they are definitely valued, you can impress your interviewer even more by being knowledgeable on topics that are directly related to consulting, such as economics . 2 Listen to the problem. Make sure you understand exactly what you are being asked to do. Don't be afraid to ask for clarification if you're unsure about a particular point. 3 Devise a problem solving structure. Your interviewer will give you a couple minutes to look over and take notes on the data that they give you. Use this time to your advantage. The interviewer doesn't care if you're smart enough to wing it; you'll look much more impressive if you use the time and are able to communicate your answers in an organized, well thought-out way than if you don't take the time to prepare and end up stumbling over your wor...

How to Apply Eye Cosmetics Safely

Poorly maintained and inappropriately used eye cosmetics can harbor germs and the potential for injury. By applying eye cosmetics with a view to good hygiene and proper usage, you can minimize the chances of spreading any infection or germs. Method 1 Safety conscious application recommendations 1 Wash your hands before applying eye makeup. Your hands are another potential source of transferring germs to your eye area. Remember that fingers harbor bacteria too. If using your fingers to apply cosmetics to the eyes, make sure to wash them well beforehand. 2 When trying on makeup at beauty stores, use new disposable applicators only. Using non-disposable ones intended for reuse risks transferring germs and bacteria onto your eyes. 3 Do not apply makeup while in motion. For example, do not apply makeup when driving, as this can lead to eye injuries such as a corneal scratch (which can lead to infection). Applying eye makeup when in motion also risks stabbing your eye with the a...
